Outdoor Facilities
Barmolloch is not only home to Helen & Stewart and their family, but also to a whole host of wildlife, free range animals, and at times resident volunteers who come to assist with the biodynamic principle farming.
Working towards biodynamic/permaculture organic gardening in large polytunnels to produce an array of healthy vegetables and fruit, we also share our space with rare-breed Boreray sheep, hens, geese, ducks, and bees.
So fresh eggs and vegetables are aplenty and such produce is available to you during your stay if you wish. If you'd like to indulge in some therapeutic gardening & growing, our volunteers will be happy of the help and guide you to green-fingered glee.
The farm and the surrounding local area are a nature lover's dream in themselves, and a great glimpse into sustainable living. To make it an extra special experience for you (or your retreat guests), there are a few added bonuses too...

This space provides a wonderful, community-building addition to the facilities. There’s nothing quite like gathering around a table with like-minded people and nourishing food.
The Local Area
Mid-Argyll is the perfect playground for nature-lovers, history-fanatics, and those looking for some general respite. Nature is, after all, the greatest place to heal and recharge.
The adjacent Kilmartin Glen is one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes. Within six miles of Kilmartin village there are over 800 ancient monuments.
The wild and remote Atlantic coastline offers empty golden beaches, rocky alcoves & complete tranquility.
Nearby Knapdale Forest spreads from coast to coast and it’s here that beavers have been reintroduced into Scotland.
Every year nearly 2,000 boats make the journey along the nine miles of ‘Britain’s most beautiful shortcut’ – the Crinan Canal. Its tow path makes for a wonderful walk or cycle, while Dunardy offers one of many serene forest walks.
So if you or your guests want to combine your retreat with some local discovery and exploration, there’s plenty to see and do.
